Keeping it local in design and in life! These pieces of art were found by my client at Saturday Market in Portland OR. I wish I knew the artists name, sorry! We took these amazing pops of color to Moreland Frameworks and Gallery in the Westmoreland neighborhood of Portland. The owners, Rob and Cathy, are two of the sweetest, hardest working, talented and caring framers you will ever want to meet. They are local, they support local and they always have really good chocolates laying around!
Speaking of local, that sweet little dog in the picture, Casey, was adopted from a fabulous little place in the Pearl District of Portland called Dogstar. She is awesome as is this business!
These photos were taken by Steve Eltinge who is a big dog lover himself!
A really great shop with an amazing mix of vintage and antiques in the historical and adorable town of Plymouth, Mass. Check out their website: theplymouthexchange.com they ship anywhere and their prices are beyond fair!
Living beautifully is in the details. From hanging laundry to wiping off your hands to sitting out on the back patio. It doesn’t take much in fact it’s best when simple. I love Pigeon Toe a local boutique who is making it big by keeping it simple. I have seen their outdoor lights featured in House Beautiful. This year they will be featured in my house which I think is beautiful. :-)
Super cool shop alert!!! Astoria, Oregon which is just such a cool/cute town has a great shop, Vintage Hardware and it is a must see. It is in a cool old hotel, the Astor, and it is like that great space in The Kings Speach that I blogged about a long time ago. Peeling walls, plaster falling away from the lathe but all the while retaining it’s grandeur and class. I loved it!!! Oh, and did they have cool stuff?…yes they most certainly did. Things move fast there. What they have on their website is probably already gone. Make the trip, hit some of the great restaurants and shop your little heart out.
Born with talent. Some people just have it. They don’t have a fussy degree, they don’t have a bunch of acronyms after their name. They just have talent and can bring that talent to you in your home. This talent is embodied in Justin of Justin & Burks. Make a point of coming by his Selective Consignment, Home and Garden store at 8317 SE 13th Ave Portland 97202. You will be amazed by the wonderful way he and Carol pull together their eclectic items to create a very inviting and original style. Come see the beauty and meet Carol and Justin, two very sweet, gifted people and immerse yourself in the world of Justin & Burks.
Now for a post that doesn’t involve food or drink. We found an antique glass car battery holder in awesome shape while shopping the Pearl District in Portland Oregon. Why an antique glass car battery holder? Because it’s cool and makes an awesome vase! The store we found it in is called Thea’s Interiors on the corner of NW 11th and Glisan. She has that nice mix of vintage/antiques that are easy to integrate into your home. Her website has a source for some really cool custom wall paper that’s worth checking out. Enjoy!
There is a shop near the corner of Flanders and 11th called Filling Spaces that has some pretty amazing fabrics that the owner Deepali has put her heart and soul into.
If you want something classic, beautiful and unique and very well priced visit her. Pillows, table cloths, napkins, throws and any custom window treatment that you need or desire. Simply amazing. Simply sumptuous and a treat! Deepali will, with care and a passion for what she does, assist you with what ever you need.
On a walk through Portland’s very cool Mississippi neighborhood I came across this great shop, The Meadow. It has all the perfect little gifts for all sorts of occasions. It has wine, chocolate, flowers and natural salts of all kinds and some really nice local art. If you are looking for a nice gift for yourself or someone else I highly recommend checking this place out!
Welcome! This is my first post on my new website and my “inspirations” page. I hope to be regularly posting cool and interesting things that I hope someone somewhere will enjoy.
This photo is from a very cool shop called “Seek the Unique”. Andrea is the owner and has great industrial chic taste. Her shop is on 931 SE 6th, Portland 97214. I’ve been in there before when people are shopping it to use items they find there for photo shoots. It’s that cool. Check it out!
