Lord Interior Design

This is a picture I took several years ago on my “trip of a life time” to Italy with my dear friends (thanks Joe and Kathy!).  This was my room and I had truly sweet dreams there.  Sigh…..

Freakin’ cool product alert! I have a pretty boring and very typical metal front door to my studio. I found this Urbio  product that is called String Bean. It has very strong magnets on the back and the vessel is made of recylable, light weight polypropylene. I can have flowers ON my door year round. LOVE THIS!!!!

The warm weather today along with seeing the first Daphodils opening up has me thinking about my patio.  There is a talented group of designers in Portland at Revolution Designhouse who are responsible for the lounge chair in this picture and many other, locally designed and produced products.  They are well made, classicly modern and, well, I must have some!  Spring’s on it’s way…YAY!

I had some one ask about this photo that I used for one of my clients (you can see more pictures of this project on my website at Lord Design).  The photo is by Steve Eltinge my dear friend and photographer.  I gave him an idea of what I wanted, he took some shots that fit the description of what I was looking for and let me chose just the right one.  He then had it enlarged and made into a giclee to fit what I had designed in for the wall in my elevation (that’s the little drawing shown here).  It’s an awesome way to get original, local art for my clients!  Thank you Steve for being so great to work with!

When I grow up I will have a house big enough to fill with William Park paintings.  I was just looking through some post cards from Portland Open Studios this past summer and I just had to reiterate my fondness for this artists work.  If you need an amazing gift for someone this holiday season, this would be an epic gift.  I’m happy to accept such gifts if you feel so inclined. :-)

Christmas decorating 2012 is over for us and we had a blast!  Stephanie Stephens a Lord Design design associate works side by side with Arlene Lord to install over 8 thousand square feet of Christmas decor.  Check out the article in the West Linn Tidings and Lake Oswego Review to see some after pictures. This year we even did the lighting and decorating of 5 trees!  One was 15’ tall!  We LOVE decorating and creating magical experiences for all who enter the home.  It’s such an honor to have our clients invite us back to be a part of what is now a Christmas tradition for them and their family.  thank you Peggy and Gary!  We adore you!

These photos were taken by Steve Eltinge of Eltinge Photography.  Thanks Steve!

2013 color of the year is Emerald! It’s always fun to see how the color of the year is used from fashion to interiors. I like it. I liked the tangerine of last year better but I do appreciate the lush, freshness of this color.

My talented and sweet friend Jim Staicoff has created a really cool, locally made, line of wall papers.  An awesome article was written in the Oregonian.  You can contact Jim and see the designs by local artists Amy RuppelStephanie Dyer  and Dardinelle Troën,  on his website:http://paperpaintpress.com/.

So excited to see where this leads for you, Jim!  I am also excited for these artists and any future artists who get to be on this journey with Jim.  I’m rooting for you all!!!
